While progress has been made in Victoria in waste and resource recovery, policy changes have created opportunities to innovate and identify new ways of turning waste into resource. The webinar featured Matt Genever, Interim Chief Executive Officer of Sustainability Victoria, Jill Riseley, Chief Executive Officer, Metropolitan Waste and Resource Recovery Group (Recycling Victoria) and David, along with Dr Jonathan Spear, Chief Executive Officer, Infrastructure Victoria.
David presented on the Maryvale Energy from Waste (EfW) project. He talked of 100 per cent support for recyclable waste being repurposed through the circular economy, and described how no-recyclable residual waste, which would otherwise go to landfill, can be used generate valuable energy to power the Maryvale Mill.
