Sustainability Management at NIPPON PAPER GROUP

In 2004 NIPPON PAPER GROUP signed the United Nations Global Compact which is the world’s largest voluntary corporate sustainability initiative.

The UN Global Compact aims to mobilise a global movement of sustainable companies and stakeholders and to make this happen, it supports companies to:

  • do business responsibly by aligning their strategies and operations with Ten Principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption; and
  • take strategic actions to advance broader societal goals, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals, with an emphasis on collaboration and innovation.

NIPPON PAPER GROUP promotes sustainability management that pursues both social and environmental sustainability and the future growth of the company. Under the 2030 Vision formulated in May 2021, NIPPON PAPER GROUP confirms that it will promote sustainability management as a comprehensive biomass company shaping the future with trees.

NIPPON PAPER GROUP Environmental Targets 2030: Path to a Sustainable Future.

To be more effective in dealing with critical environmental issues such as climate change, it is necessary to have a vision and goals based on a medium to long-term perspective.

NIPPON PAPER GROUP has formulated its 2030 targets and plans by working back from the ideal state of the Group in 2050. The entire Group is working together to achieve these targets.

NIPPON PAPER GROUP is committed to be Carbon Neutral by 2050.
