Safety first

At Opal, safety is a core value. We run Stop for Safety Days and monthly Pause for Safety sessions to keep leaders focused on risk prevention. Virtual-reality forklift training helps our people build practical skills in a safe environment, while family initiatives such as the Safety Superhero campaign engage children in conversations about safety at home and at work.

Wellbeing matters

We know wellbeing underpins performance and culture. Our teams take part in awareness activities such as Beyond Blue speaker series, R U OK? Day and Movember. These initiatives keep the conversation going, while a 24/7 Employee Assistance Program provides confidential support whenever it’s needed.

Respect and inclusion

We are building a workplace where everyone belongs. The Check for Respect program promotes respect and inclusion through training, conversations and anonymous reporting channels. Our cultural diversity is reflected in celebrations like Diwali and Harmony Day, and we are strengthening gender equity through our Women in Leadership pipeline, supported by the National Association of Women in Operations.

In our communities

Our responsibility goes beyond our sites. From partnering with AFLW’s St Kilda Football Club to supporting Breast Cancer Network Australia, we back causes that matter. Our people also roll up their sleeves in initiatives such as Clean Up Australia Day and local biodiversity projects, showing that sustainability is as much about people as it is about packaging.
