Australia’s only local office paper manufacturer has welcomed the decision by the Minister for Industry, Science & Technology to accept the Anti-Dumping Commission’s (ADC) final recommendations relating to the dumping of A4 copy paper in the Australian market.
The combined EfW plant operations and construction are estimated to make significant contributions to both the Victorian and Latrobe Valley economies and help Australian Paper improve its social and economic contribution to its employees and the communities in which it operates.
Opal Australian Paper Maryvale is one of the largest employers in the Latrobe Valley with approximately 850 full time employees. When flow on effects are taken into account, we support 2,387 jobs and contribute $451 million to the economy of the Latrobe Valley region.

Opal Australian Paper is pleased to confirm that EPA Victoria has issued a Works Approval for its Energy from Waste proposal. The Works Approval Application is a key component of Australian Paper’s $7.5 million feasibility study into a $600 million EfW facility to be located at the Maryvale Mill.

Opal Australian Paper’s Maryvale Mill will begin its planned annual shut today, halting production for the next four weeks to allow completion of important maintenance and capital works. Major works planned for the shut are part of a $200 million, five year capital investment program currently underway at the facility.
