Opal team member represents Australia and wins New Speaker Competition

Congratulations to Pranav Nair, Graduate Process Engineer at Opal’s Maryvale Mill who has taken out the title for Australia in the New Zealand versus Australia Appita New Speaker Competition Final.

“It was really awesome and a great experience,” Pranav said.

“Initially it was quite nerve-wracking to know you’re representing Australia but at the same time it was something that I got a lot out of. It was a great learning opportunity and a fantastic experience overall.”

Last month, Pranav won the New Speaker Runoff Competition for Australia and was one of four speakers who participated in the Appita Young Professionals Network event. After winning the Australian Run Off competition, he was invited to compete against the New Zealand Runoff winner.

Pranav was awarded an educational grant of $1,500 for career development in the pulp and paper industry and a timber plaque.

A recording of Pranav’s presentation will be aired during Appita’s FVCCON21 Fibre Value Chain Conference in December where Pranav will do a live Q&A with attendees after the presentation.

Well done Pranav!
