When it comes to a need for speed, Opal’s up for the challenge!
The brief was ambitious: create eight life-like, vibrant vehicles out of recyclable cardboard, that were robust enough for the drivers to jump into, and then sprint to the finish line.
Working with marketing agency Brandstand, Opal’s Specialty Packaging team in Auckland delivered the concept, design and finished the vehicles in less than 10 days. Using Opal’s digital printer, they were able to deliver a high quality, almost photogenic print for each of the vehicles.
A lot of consideration was put into ensuing the vehicles were tough enough to withstand the race. Opal’s Specialty Packaging team worked through how the drivers would physically get in to the vehicles, hold them, and race them on the field.
Dedicated to ensuring the design could stand up to race conditions, the Specialty Packaging team even simulated races around Opal’s carpark to test their prototypes.
Global car giant GWM and the One New Zealand Warriors were delighted with the half time promotional race activation, which was created to showcase their new partnership and GWM’s range of SUVs, Utes and EVs.
